NEW! Online companion school! – whilst you are studying your modules our online companion school has been developed to help bring it all to life for you at home study element of the course and includes: If you’re ready to change your life and the lives of a lot of dogs for the better, if you are prepared to be dedicated and committed to completing the written and practical work, then we are ready to train you. In the photo on the right, you can see the four large rounded knobs that work to massage your pet while you brush. The small bristles work to remove dead hair at the same time. This is a great tool to use with anxious or stressed dogs, and it's also the best option if you're looking to create or help build the bond between you and your canine companion. If your dog isn’t keen, they may appear alert, keeping a close watch on you or the therapist. They will likely try to move away whenever they aren’t being touched. They will appear tense. They may even growl or snap. If this is the case, you should stop straight away. Never attempt to massage your dog if you risk being injured, or if your dog appears tense or distressed. We strongly advise all prospective applicants to attend a 1 day workshops to help assess for yourself whether this is the right course for you. There are courses all around the UK and there is an option to take the workshop on line. Details about where you can book can be found here

The Lenton Method ® is the combination of the 7 Protocols, Bodymapping and a set Full Body Palpation Routine. Choose a PetWell dog massage tool, developed to improve the overall well-being of your four-legged friend. The PetWell line of innovative massagers was specially designed for your pet, and is recommended by veterinarians. For the ultimate dog massage experience, include some music like ‘ Through a Dog’s Ear’, which has been scientifically researched and composed to be more relaxing for the canine nervous system! Furniture and floors covered in pet hair? Is your dog in need of some extra TLC? Then this two-in-one massager and de-shedder may help with your household and pet’s needs. The Petwell Handheld Therapeutic Massagercan be used to reduce stress and anxiety in pets because it provides multiple levels of massage. This type of massage tool can also help to enhance circulation and improve digestion. It has four rounded knobs that work to relieve tension in the muscles. Canine massage therapy is indicated for many situations. Whether your dog is young and athletic, old and arthritic, or anywhere in between those life stages, massage therapy is an easy and safe modality to boost your pup’s overall quality of life. What I’m saying is: Being alive is practically indication enough. As you progress with the massage, look for signs that your dog is becoming more relaxed – they may occasionally stretch, or relax into your hands, or they may even drift off to sleep!

Start with a flat hand and use your palm to stroke your dog, working from the top of their head down. Use gentle pressure and start in the direction of hair growth. If your dog enjoys this, you can use a slightly firmer pressure. Always avoid bones and joints, so you’re only stroking over the muscles (for example either side of the spine). Natalie also assists in the career development of trained therapists by coaching them as Workshop Instructors to run their own workshops in canine massage therapy and bringing this wonderful therapy to a wider audience across the world, benefitting more dogs, everywhere. But according to Victoria Stillwell, it’s a very effective way for calming dogs. It can also help calm hyperactive dogs. Finally, we come to the Petwell Massaging Groomer De-Shedding Brush. If you have a dog that sheds excessively, don't get too excited. While this is a great massaging tool, it certainly wasn't designed specifically for grooming. Massage is definitely the first priority, but it also removes some hair in the process. We do not share your information with other organisations other than limited students information which is shared with the Accreditation company. This is why some dogs get stressed with fireworks bursting all around their house. Especially during the 4th of July.
