HiKOKI (Hitachi) Gas Nail Gun NR90GC2 First Fix 90mm Framing Nailer Including 2x 1.5Ah Li-Ion Batteries & Charger in Carry Case On one job, I based about 300 feet of ranch style radiata pine. Not only did the nailer avoid jamming up, but all my nails set flush. I completed this ten-hour job on one charge.

This battery is for use only with the Lithium-Ion version of the NR90. Use with other tools may cause the tool not to operate correctly Hitachi uses an air spring drive system. There is a cylinder in the head of the nailer and the nailer has the ability to compress gas which it uses to fire the nail. The nailer uses a brushless motor, which drives a piston, which compresses air in the cylinder. When you press the fire button, there isn’t a waiting period, it just drives the nail. Hitachi Cordless Framing Nailer Review Features I don’t have a whole lot of negative things to say about the Hitachi Cordless Brad Nailer. But I did notice that when I’m shooting 2″ brads into hardwood, the gun struggles if I don’t put enough pressure on it. However, if I hold the gun with both hands, it will set nails just fine.Light-years ahead of the old Impulse tools from the 1990's, cordless nailing is now one of the hottest topics in construction. Efficiency concern - and in some cases questionable reliability - has kept many contractors from making the switch from air-power to battery-power, until now. Advancements in battery capacity and lithium ion technology, paired with better overall performance and durability, can be credited for the growing demand of cordless tools. With at least three leading brands ready to compete, and several others closing in on the competition, who's top dog when it comes to cordless framing guns?

However, when it comes to paper tape nailers, the Hitachi NR1890DC can definitely hold its own against the Paslode CF325XP (905600), and the Dewalt DCN692M1. Hitachi's instant advantage over Paslode, the NR1890DC requires no compressed gas fuel for operation - meaning the end user can operate independently of costly fuel cells; and without the need for compressed gas, there's no delay in firing due to ramp up. A huge benefit for productivity and efficiency. On another job, I hung shiplap on a massive set of bunk beds that I’d built. Again, this was an all-day job that I completed using only one battery. When not in use, NiCd batteries lose 1% of their charge per day. After three and a half months, the battery is completely discharged, damaging the battery. Typically, angled nail guns/nailers are better if you’re working in different scenarios but are slightly more expensive (with angled magazines also costing more). If you’re working on the likes of trim and other interior fittings, opt for products listed as finish nailers. These use smaller gauge nails that can be fixed without you risking any splitsCompact 3.0Ah Lithium Ion battery is 3/4″ shorter and .6 pounds lighter than conventional 3.0Ah battery This battery is for use only with this version of the NR90. Use with other tools may cause the tool not to operate correctly. The next day’s agenda included mounting some acrylic mirrors to the bottom of a Murphy bed I had built. This presented an excellent opportunity to break out my new Hitachi Cordless Brad Nailer. I not only needed to frame out the mirrors, but I also needed to hold the mirrors in place while the mastic dried. I used 1-5/8″ brads to attach the 1/2″ poplar trim boards to the bed. The Hitachi worked without a hitch. If you own the Hitachi battery platform, this is a no-brainer. If you don’t have the Hitachi line of tools, but are looking to go cordless with a framing nailer, this is one you should consider looking into. If the battery is attached to the nailer for 12 hours or more, the battery's output will be automatically shut off due to the built in Auto Power OFF feature for the purpose of reducing battery consumption. In this event, the tool will not operate when the trigger is pulled, but this is not a malfunction.
