About this deal

I can look past immature writing, poor development, and cringeworthy dialogue. I can suspend my disbelief and put aside my knowledge of proper grammar and verb use. I can even stomach dark topics to a certain extent. And lastly, why do beast and aurora get kidnapped like thrice in this book? The author just couldn’t come up with a new plot, so she just repeated the kidnap trope like 5x in two books. Jasmine Baas, twenty-three, has always done the right thing for other people, and in the end, it cost her. She had always understood that her parents would use her in an advantageous marriage and that she had no choice in the matter. It didn’t prevent her from hoping that her marriage might be to Liam even if she acted otherwise to protect herself from potential heartbreak. She had done everything to ensure that she was the best choice, but in the end, she had proven herself too indispensable to be handed over to the De Vos family. Liam’s death had been further heartbreak, and in the years that passed, she had given up on the ideas of dating and love. Liam’s surprising return three years later might have given her a glimmer of hope – especially now that Jill had married Luca – but there was nothing about the man he had become that resembled the well-mannered Liam of her dreams. This man was a monster. But Jill had sacrificed herself for Jasmine when she stepped forward to marry Luca, and now Jasmine would step forward to protect her sister from Liam’s wrath. She follows him to his cabin in Germany, but she is hardly prepared for the plans he has in store for her. I want to say that this book stayed with me for awhile, but I can’t say it’s for the right reasons. I really can’t see how it keeps getting high stars, other than the writer is promising and the concept was good. The more I thought about this book, the more I realized that I had a longer list of issues with the book than love of the book. ** I will state that this will contain some spoilers as I just don’t see a way to review it without any. (This will also include the trigger scenes mentioned earlier, which I will clearly mark in case someone wants to jump to that.) This author needs a new way to describe fear. Every five seconds it’s “my pupils dilate..” or “his/ her pupils dilate..” even when they were 8 years old, they knew when their pupils were dilating.

Cage went to find Ella, but he didn't know where to go. All he knew was that she lived near the woods, which could have been a hell of a lot of places. So once he found a forest he decided to live in it since he didn't fit in in society. Somehow he knew how to live off the land although he'd never been outside until recently. Then Ella happened to find the woods where he was. The chances of that happening were so slim it was completely unbelievable.Beauty and the Beast is my fav fairytale, so whenever I see a book stating that it’s based on/inspired by…etc, my interest is piqued. When it’s an author I already enjoy, well, I’m all in to see how they will take the tale and make it their own, and boy has this author made it her own and I gotta say that I really enjoyed it. The chemistry here is very much physical- a lot of instalust, and from Beauty’s unexpected kindness to him. We get a little bit of emotional bonding, but much of the story is them figuring out their situation- and it leads up to quite a big cliffhanger. There is a particularly salacious scene (following when we find out one of Aurora’s secrets) that was extra delicious. Beast is a dark and twisted retelling of the Beauty & the Beast, but remember not everything is what it seems, like when Belle arrived at the Beasts castle it was enchanted because of a witches spell, well in this retelling the spell that has been cast is not one of a paranormal nature but one of organized crime which is much much darker. Always on the lookout for new and exciting ideas to help inspire her and her work, she’d constantly be drawing inspiration from the world around her. Using many of her own experiences, she’d constantly be refining and honing her craft as a novelist, fully establishing her voice as an author. Currently living with her husband and their son, she continues to put out work regularly, with lots more planned for publication in the near future.

When I come to again, the first thing I feel is a roaring headache. My lungs burn when I breathe through my mouth. A metallic taste lies on my tongue, and I swallow to make it go away, but it lingers. Everything hurts. My head. My mouth. As if I’ve been hit a couple of times, but I can’t remember a thing. So if you are a fan of the genre, then feel free to join the group and jump into any of the discussions...or create your own. Cage is, well Cage is kept in a cage. Anyway he is kept in his cage until it's time to fight again and after each fight he wins his reward, except Cage needs a new reward so his captor lets him choose a girl he likes from a group of photo's. The thing is Cage thinks there is nothing wrong with any of this as he was born and raised only knowing the life his captor taught him, and only what his captor wanted him to know which wasn't much. If you totally want to lose yourself in a book filled with steamy scenes and non-stop action this is the book for you. When these two are temporarily set free to find her missing father for Beasts owner, Beast must choose between two paths. The plot revolved (loosely) around a mafia lord and his “pet”. The writing was so poor she made the main villain mean AND stupid with no explanation for either. “Her dad never repaid his debt” okay?!? That was literally the plot for all of the two books. It’s like she couldn’t come up with any other catalyst to move the book along so she made the main villain a moron and needlessly vicious just to keep going.

Secondly, how is it possible that aurora becomes even more dumb. Why did she still question the love beast shows her. He literally tells her that he loves her and that she’s beautiful and she still thinks that she is unlovable and ugly because of her hands. And it was repeatedly brought up. And also, why does aurora want to save her father even when he was nothing but mean to her. He says that she is a monster, a failure and everything bad in this world and she still wants to save him every damn time. Also, why does she want to save him when he rats her out and she was like “oh no, he wouldn’t do that to me, he loves me”. Bitch please, HE TOLD HER THAT HE HATES HER AND SHE STILL THINKS HE LOVES HER?! I still don’t get the rationale of the raw meat only being fed to Beast one time. Yes I know it was to demonstrate him being less than human, but he was never fed raw meat again, and nothing was ever mentioned again about that, or his reaction when waiting in the cage acting like he had rabies or something (I.e. foaming at the mouth, biting the bars, etc.). Obviously it was all an act because he was doing what was expected of him, but to not discuss it seems a bit senseless.

I'm not quite sure what it is about Clarissa Wild's writing that gets me but every single time I read her books, she pushes me out of my comfort box in an unknown world but always in all the best ways. On paper I'd shy away from this type of book (darker, angstier) but never with Clarissa. I'm so glad she's a go to for me... and that I read Caged (and Uncaged) because they were brilliant. How do I even start a review when even after putting this novel down, breathing is hard and my very soul has been touched in a way that words just simply seem useless. I nod a few times, pushing myself as far as I can into the wall so the blade doesn’t cut into me. But I can’t stop the whimper from leaving my mouth. Featuring four couples with their fates intertwined with one another, this book looks at four different stories in total. Linking them all together is an evil business empire which brings each one of their stories together on different terms. With a new revelation on the horizon for them all, it appears that things are going to be drastically changing for each of them. Can they each overcome this together, what will they discover, and will they end up happy forever after darkness? Two people who find each other, who fall for one another in the direst of situations. And somehow along the way, Ella is even able to find her voice in front of Cage. They are as different as can be, yet so perfect for each other. Their love is pure and sweet – and everything that it shouldn’t be given the circumstances.

I honestly could keep going and dissect every bit of this book but let me sum it up. For what it is, there a THOUSANDS of better books out there. I love reading trashy spicy books but this one was AWFUL. Go read any other steamy romance and I guarantee you it is better than whatever this sh*tshow was. Yes I get that he is a ‘Beast’, but at the end of the day, he is still human. Otherwise, what was the purpose of him being shot to end the first / begin the second parts of the story? What is contemporary romance? It's a rom This is a group for discussing books and authors of adult contemporary romances between a male and a female. Cage was like a little boy in a grown and sexy man-body. He was incredibly naive. He didn’t understand what most of us consider normal expressions or colloquialisms. He wasn’t socialized, he had never even been outside. He didn’t understand the world around him because he wasn’t a part of the world. He lived in a caged environment and the only thing he knew was to fight… to the death. He had never had a friend and he had never known affection, however, when given the chance to meet someone, to have someone of his very own, he chose Ella. But when Ella is taken and wakes up to her new life in the cage, will she ever be able to forgive and love Cage the same way that he loves her? This was downright horrendous. I kept wanting to stop reading, but I convinced myself to continue. Obviously, wrong choice on my behalf.
