It takes eights years to grow our blue agave and for mother nature to do all her flavouring in the ground. Disappointing, because I bought this expecting it to be "Exceptionally smooth and gentle", which is a description far better suited for Cazadores Blanco, my current benchmark for smooth tequilas. This particular expression is not made with lightning, but with 105 year old copper stills, which distil the Blue Weber agave twice before its bottled up straight from the still.No Limes have been harmed in the making of this Funkin Puree, but they have been squeezed within an inch of their lives to create the tart, refreshing flavour of this cocktail puree. El Rayo takes its name from Mexican folklore, with tells of the great bolt of lightning – El Rayo –striking the blue agave in the hills near Tequila. There are over 200 varieties of agave but by law only the blue agave can be used in the production of tequila.
