There is, however, a bonus DVD in the set with the acclaimed two and a half hour The Madness of Max 'making of' documentary on it, which interviews everyone and leaves no stone unturned on the production of the feature; it more than makes up for the packaging. Mad Max is ultimately a dystopian western tale where humanity slowly devolves into anarchy and the degradation of civil values, a harsh and unpleasant world where barbarity and savage brutality lies in wait, soon to become the norm.

Taking the dystopian future to heart, now set in desolation, the sequel is little more than one big action scene, that gets bigger and bolder with every passing frame. Toecutter and his cronies are incredibly unsettling and outlandish characters just out to make people’s lives miserable, so watching them get what they deserve in the end is incredibly satisfying. The third option is the American dubbed version while the second is the original monoaural Australian track, and the first is a 5. Detail is fantastic, the grime on the cars, the rips in leather, scruffy hair, the tarmac on the road, sand grains, whips of vegetation in the desert; stunning stuff. Music superstar Tine Turner steals what's left of the screen as Aunty Entity, a power-mad dominatrix determined to use Max to tighten her stranglehold on Bartertown.With two of the best sequels ever made (and one we don’t talk about) the world and legacy are unmatched, setting a gold standard and a genre alight. The nature of this film allows for some decent overhead effects: the plane attack in the beginning with its strafing, the entire Thunderdome fight, what with cheering crowds and clanging steel being of particular note.

Black level is set well, with good frame depth and shadows, but once again the white scale really pushes the image with the highlights. Dialogue is natural sounding and whilst held to the frontal array is given the odd moment of directionality but unfortunately is occasionally a bit low in the mix.He keeps women as slaves for breeding so when Furiosa escapes in a tanker with the girls, Joe and his crew of War Boys are in hot pursuit.
